The EU-Singapore Free Trade Agreement inked in Brussels in October 2018

The EU-Singapore Free Trade Agreement, the EU-Singapore Investment Protection Agreement and EU-Singapore Partnership and Cooperation Agreement were signed in Brussels, Belgium, on 19 October 2018. Together, they signify an important step towards deepening the EU's bilateral relations with Singapore, a fast growing economy in Southeast Asia.

The trade agreement with Singapore will remove all remaining tariffs for products originating in the EU, simplify customs procedures and set high standards and rules. It facilitates trade in goods like electronics, food products and pharmaceuticals, while stimulating green growth. It opens up the market for services like telecommunications, environmental services and engineering.

The EU-Singapore Free Trade Agreement, the EU-Singapore Investment Protection Agreement and EU-Singapore Partnership and Cooperation Agreement were signed in Brussels, Belgium, on 19 October 2018. Together, they signify an important step towards deepening the EU's bilateral relations with Singapore, a fast growing economy in Southeast Asia.

 

Fostering long-term business partnerships in South East Asia

The EU Business Avenues in South East Asia programme is built on the successful EU Gateway model of business support. Since the EU Gateway started, the programme has continually allowed EU companies from various industries to extend their business to Asia.

The EU Business Avenues in South East Asia programme focuses on the growing South East Asian markets. This EU-funded initiative aims to help European companies establish long-lasting business collaborations through matchmaking and business support services, using Singapore as a hub.

Following the completion of a successful pilot programme to Singapore, Malaysia and Vietnam in 2014 and 2015, the expanded programme will now cover three additional markets: Indonesia, Philippines and Thailand.

The selected European companies will participate in week-long business missions that cover the following sectors and markets:
